The Elimu (Educators) Institute is a professional development seminar designed for those who support student learning (teachers, youth workers, and administrators of youth focused programs or services). Elimu is centered in empowering youth stakeholders in the creation of safe and effective learning environments for children of color. The seminar focus is on teaching participants classroom/program strategies for engagement, tools for behavior management, and culturally responsive curriculum development. The 2020 Elimu Institute will rally around “Bringing out the Excellence in children” with key learning's in three areas:
The pedagogy of cultural competence in supporting students of color.
The practice and application of culturally responsive learning.
Culturally responsive tools for curriculum development and student engagement.
